The Best Bags for the Analogue Pocket and Retro Gaming in 2025

The Analogue Pocket has redefined handheld retro gaming, offering stunning FPGA-based accuracy for Game Boy, Game Gear, and Neo Geo Pocket titles. But with its premium build and delicate screen, this device demands a bag that offers more than just a pocket. Whether you are commuting, traveling, or simply heading to a friend’s house for a retro gaming session, the right bag can make all the difference in keeping your console safe, organized, and ready to play.

In this guide, we explore the best bags for the Analogue Pocket and your accompanying retro gaming accessories. We focus on protection, portability, and style—ensuring you carry your gear with confidence. From compact sleeves to spacious backpacks, these options from WaterField Designs combine thoughtful design with durable materials to meet the needs of any retro enthusiast.

Why Your Analogue Pocket Needs a Dedicated Bag

The Analogue Pocket is not a cheap impulse buy. With its aluminum shell, high-resolution LCD, and FPGA-based hardware, it is a precision instrument for retro gaming. A simple cloth pouch or loose carry in a backpack can lead to scratches, screen pressure, or even damage from dropped items. A dedicated bag provides a snug, padded compartment that cradles the device and prevents movement during transit.

Beyond the console itself, retro gaming often involves a small ecosystem of accessories: extra cartridges, a USB-C cable for charging, a pair of wired earbuds, and perhaps a Link Cable for multiplayer. A well-designed bag offers dedicated pockets for these items, so you never have to dig through a cluttered main compartment. This organization not only protects your gear but also saves time when you want to jump into a game.

• Look for a bag with a padded, form-fitting sleeve or compartment specifically sized for the Analogue Pocket.
• Consider a bag with multiple interior pockets for cartridges, cables, and small accessories to keep everything organized and tangle-free.

Top Picks for Analogue Pocket Carry

When choosing a bag for your Analogue Pocket, you have several form factors to consider. A sleeve offers the most minimalist protection—ideal for slipping the console into a larger bag or carrying it on its own. For those who want an all-in-one solution, a messenger bag or backpack provides space for the Pocket, accessories, and even a laptop or tablet for gaming on the go.

One excellent option is the Vero Leather Sleeve for MacBook Pro, which, despite its name, can also accommodate the Analogue Pocket in its padded interior. The full-grain leather exterior offers timeless style and excellent protection against bumps and scratches. For a more versatile everyday carry, the Vitesse Messenger Bag provides a dedicated padded compartment for a handheld console, plus multiple organizer pockets for cartridges and cables. Its waxed canvas exterior and leather trim give it a rugged, vintage look that pairs perfectly with retro gaming gear.

Backpack Solutions for the Retro Gamer on the Go

If you plan to carry your Analogue Pocket alongside a laptop, tablet, or other daily essentials, a backpack is the way to go. A good tech backpack should have a padded laptop compartment, a separate padded section for your handheld, and plenty of small pockets for cartridges, cables, and a power bank. This setup keeps everything protected and easily accessible, whether you are commuting by train or walking across campus.

The Essential Laptop Backpack - Canvas Edition is an excellent choice for retro gamers who need to carry multiple devices. Its padded laptop sleeve fits up to a 16-inch MacBook Pro, while the main compartment has plenty of room for the Analogue Pocket, a tablet, and a few game cartridges. The front organizer pocket features dedicated slots for pens, a phone, and small accessories, so you can quickly grab your earbuds or a stylus. The canvas construction is both durable and stylish, making it a bag that looks as good as it performs.

• Choose a backpack with a dedicated padded compartment for your handheld console to prevent it from shifting against other items.
• Look for a front pocket with multiple organizer slots to keep cartridges, cables, and small accessories sorted and easy to find.

A compact glasses case is a smart addition if you wear reading glasses or need to protect a spare pair of screen-cleaning cloths. The Vista Magnetic Glasses Case offers a sleek, magnetic closure and a padded interior that can also hold a small cleaning cloth or a few game cartridges in a pinch.

For those who like to keep their keys organized and easily accessible, the Leather Key Clip is a simple but elegant solution.
